Gluten-Free Gifts in a Jar Make Easy Gifts
Tis the season for gift giving and sharing from the kitchen. How about we combine the two and whip something up for our friends and family that comes all dressed up in a Mason Jar? This is an old standard with a twist for those on your list that are gluten and/or dairy-free. I have tried numerous gluten-free flours and have also made my own blends. But, I prefer to use two of Pamela’s products: Pamela’s Artisan Flour Blend and Pamela’s Pancake and Baking Mix. They are consistent in quality and perform very well. All of these recipes call for either one.

Gluten-Free Beginnings
Many years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a chronic health condition. It has decided it really likes to hang around with me and not let go. I tried traditional treatments for a while which did very little to help me, and offered up some annoying side effects. But with a bit of research, I discovered that if I altered my diet and lifestyle I could manage this condition on my own without medication. This journey began many years ago, before much was known about all the ailments that benefit from a gluten-free diet. So, I like to think of myself as somewhat of a pioneer that set off to lands unknown to begin a new life. A life of recipe creativity and cooking everything from scratch!
Helping Gluten-Free Friends
Baking without using boxed mixes can be a new experience for many. So I have also had the joy and privilege of helping others navigate the trails of food allergies and sensitivities. It can be daunting to prepare old recipes that you once loved, but now without allergens. At this time of year, it is especially difficult with all the gluten-full Christmas cookies around e v e r y w h e r e y o u l o o k!
Gluten-Free Gifts in a Jar
So, if you’re the one with the “creative food modification life” or it’s a loved one, I’ve got a few recipes that can be either whipped up at home or assembled in a jar and given as a gift. Here we go:
Table of Contents
Gluten-Free Coco Nuts
This first recipe dates back over 100 years I’m guessing. My grandma used to make them for my mom (who is now 91). Mom has dementia and lives with me, so when I make these she can’t always remember what they’re called, but she smiles as she grabs a couple and says, “mom used to make these.” I have adapted the original recipe to be gluten-free and dairy-free. They can be made with a butter substitute, but I can have butter, and I prefer using the real thing.
They have a rich cocoa flavor and a soft melt in your mouth texture—yum!
Gluten-Free Chocolate Mint Chip Cookies
A gluten-free adaptation of Nestle’s Tollhouse Cookies with a minty twist for the holidays! If you’re assembling this one in a jar, cut the recipe in half. It’s a bit too volumous to fit in a quart jar.
Gluten-Free Cranberry Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
These are sooooo good. I will sometimes make them with Swerve sweetener and a bit of molasses so I can munch them at breakfast time and not feel guilty!
Gluten-Free Apple Cider Donuts
This is a recipe from Pamela’s Products website that I adapted a bit in order to make it not only gluten-free, but also dairy-free. The greatness of this donut recipe caused me to splurge and get THESE donut pans so I could make them in the shape of a donut instead of using my mini muffin pans.
Assemble in a Mason Jar
All of the above recipes can be layered in a one-quart Mason Jar and given as a gift. Simply start with the flour on the bottom and add each ingredient in layers to make it look pretty. Decorate the top of the jar with a square of fabric and a piece of pretty ribbon or hemp string. I even made you some gift tags along with the recipes to make it easy. Send a copy of the recipe along with the jar so they can simply add the wet ingredients, stir and bake. Simple.
Happy gifting and baking from my kitchen to yours. Please leave me a comment below. I’d love to hear how it went.

Great recipes! I do totally believe that most of what’s ailing us can be eased or treated by changing the way we live, our lifestyles, the things we use in our homes including those we eat, clean with and use on our bodies, and our environments. As man/ woman has become more modernized, industrialized, we have been exposed to too many toxic substances, some of which masquerade as food. I am so happy to see you have taken the reigns and live more naturally.
Hi Mrs D! Hope all is well! I just wanted to let you know that I put my email in on the gluten-free recipe post and it just gave me a download to your Philippians study. Should I have put my email in a different spot or will the recipes be emailed? So looking forward to trying them! Thank you 🙂
Hi Danielle,
Thanks for subscribing! I just checked and I had the incorrect link in the post. Thanks for pointing that out! It’s all fixed now. I’ll email you the recipes so you have them in time for Christmas:)
These recipes look amazing and the ones I’ve tried taste amazing too! I loved making the mason jar gifts as a kid and I’m excited to see a gluten free option! Next on my list will be to try the apple cider donuts, those always remind me of the great food that comes along with cold weather.
Thanks Sarah! I can’t wait for you to try the Apple Cider Donuts. They remind me of trips to the apple orchard in the fall!
